Some interesting snippets in the press this morning about the Blades decision to quit as Wallaby forwards coach. He still hasn't informed Eddie of his decision! Eddie heard about it second-hand. It sounds like Blades got out of the kitchen because he couldn't stand the heat. Eddie was immensely critical of the forwards a couple of times during the Tri Nations. With very good reason. Blades, apparently a nice, rather amiable soul, obviously decided he didn't need the stress. Apparently, Roger Gould's - the backs' coach - departure was more straight forward. He's also a team selector, and the coaching on top of his other role was wreaking havoc on his family.

I will read and reply properly on Wed - have sneaked of to post this before Sunday lunch.
We beats Cardiff 31-13 and looked pretty good doing so. This is against tradition and may not bode well for the new season. But at least the lads should have some confidence.
And we may really have found a new Jonno in Deacon.
The packs were niggly and half way through the first half a slight scuffle ensued, with locks Louis Deacon and Craig Quinnell earning yellow cards. Quinnell (younger more thuggish brother of Scott) landed a torrent of punches on his young opponent, who then stood toe to toe and replied in kind. Quinell was finally pried off Deacon by Will Skinner (Back's young apprentice). Good lads.

Beaut. Corne Krige's influence on the competition is showing already.

The NZRFU has declined to play a third Bledisloe Cup match next season because two of the three matches would be scheduled to be played in Australia. How low is their self-esteem?

Mmmm. Displaying all the creativity of Carlos and Mehrts combined.

In response to the level of unbiased judgement and wit of Eddie and, .. well, .. just Eddie alone says it all really.
Too wordy. You blurred your point.

It seems that the Toulousains are unfortunately becoming quite an ordinary team.
You're most welcome to come and support a real rugby team.

The real supporters are the ones that are supporting their team during the hard times... though some call them the "suckers that are still paying year after year".

Okay I am not back in until tomorrow but i just had to pop in and ask why Finbar is not littering the thread with smilies?
Dally announced his international retirement this morning. Jumping before being pushed methinks.
Because I heard it announced on the BBC World Service overnight and I don't get out of bed and rush to the computer for idiots like him!
OTOH, now that I'm out of bed and it's the first day of Spring -
Definitely jumping before he was pushed. Now you need a skipper. I gather Mark Thatcher is looking for greener pastures.

Yes indeed. It was mistakenly reported here this morning that he had quit. They confused Clive with The Nose. Understandably, really. I suspect Clive is laying the groundwork for an early departure. He has, finally, realised that it's one thing to be carried to a WRC title on the coat tails of one of the great rugby players, but another thing actually to have to build and coach a team. So you'll need a coach. I gather Mark Thatcher is looking for greener pastures. Or did I already mention that?
