I think getting Rasheed is more vindication for drafting Darko than even Prince's great performance. Prince has been playing the 2 on defense mostly, so Mello definitely could have still fit in on the squad. (anyone's guess on how attitude wise that would work)

Thing is Dumars knew the perfect fit for his team was a long, lanky 3-4 who could post up, play D, and shoot from the outside... Darko (in a few years). Just turns out he found Rasheed available to fill that role right now, and it's definitely shown that the vision for what the team could be was right on.

            Why?

You should hate Anthony Mason instead

That Knicks team had the best ball movement of any team I've ever seen though

                Wow, this is great news.

Congrats to the Pistons. Ya know, this might just inspire me to follow the NBA next year.

So true. I'm a Pistons fan, but Malone gave me double cheering incentive this series. Great call on the series btw.

                      And Darko!

I was actually a little disappointed that Tayshaun didn't get any play for MVP. He drove Kobe nuts, passed the ball well, and had timely baskets the first four games; tonight, he was dominant.
Yea, Tayshaun was awesome in all phases of the game, defense, rebounds, passing, shooting, post up, fast breaks and even a little dribble penetration. I love players like that who do so many little things well. They don't get the love and respect they deserve a lot of times.

                      • That's two championships in two weeks for owner Bill Davidson, whose Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup last week.

I'm so glad that the best team won. Perhaps not the best collection of players, but the best team.

                        • Yes, and kudos to LoA. As a die hard Pistons fan, I hoped they would win, I knew they could win, but I didn't really think they would do it (until they *****-slapped the Lakers in Game One).

True, but Prince would have backed up Mello. So the Pistons would have had either Hamilton or Mello guarding the 2, the other on the 3. Neither Rip nor Mello could have defended Kobe (or Rip Artest in the East Finals, for that matter) nearly as well as Tay did.

Watching the post-game interviews Prince only got 2 questions. They didn't even ask the "Mello vindication" one... I think all the journalist's brains are still trying to recover from the realization that the Lakers weren't the better team.
