    Sort of related, maybe:

Is there any chance the Hyksos were the Hebrews?

That's an old theory, but I don't think it has much scholarly support. I think the most common belief is that the Hyksos were the Amalekites the Israelites encounter in the Bible.

Old theory - hence a theory my Dad heard and found "neat" and told me about (he's 79). I'd never looked into it, but I figured some polytubby would give me a couple of lines on it. Thank you, Boris.

There is other evidence of Egyptaic contact with the New World, albeit it quite circumstantial. There are statues in Central American that face towards Egypt that have features that are African, not typically Central American, and they predate any American civilization.

It's a fanciful theory, at least.

You know what? I am not going to do endless searches on the net whenever someone makkes another dumb assumption any more. The answer is somewhere in the EEF archives. The lady that did those cocaine tests told us what really happened. Look somewhere during the last months of last year, I'm not going anymore...

Well EXCUSE me. I was just asking. I didn't ask for a link, or anything else.

                  **** off, then. Damn.

                      That was pretty unneccessary, Hueij.

Anyway, it's perfectly feasible that Egyptian explorers made it to South and Central America. We know that they were sailing all the way around Africa over 4000 years ago, so it's not too much of a stretch to see them crossing the South Atlantic and reaching Brazil and then sailing northward. It's at least believable.

I know, sorry. But it's kind of tiresome to keep discussing the same old bs over and over again.

Of course you haven't heard it. TV programs that come up with sensational scientific "news" get a lot of advertisement money, programs that explain that that news was probably a bit overdone or just plain false don't...

Hmm, seems not to be "all the way around," but at least around the Horn. It was c. 2300BC, under Pepi I and headed up by Henenu:
