  • So you agree with Tingkai the guy was asking for it?

Never tought you would say so, but I guess Texans hate Yankees so much they blame them for getting beheaded.

He was released on April 6 and decided to stick around. The last time his family heard from him was April 9. He had told them that he was close to landing a contract.

Wasn't he captured soon after that?

          • GePap, that was a dumb statement.
We may not always agree, but I'm honestly surprised by your remark.

            • A soldier is trained to never disobey. Never.

You are a piece of work... a soldier in the US armed forces is trained to disobey a superior's order if it violates international covenants on war. If a superior orders genocide, an American soldier has a DUTY to disobey!

              --

And anyone else find it ironic that Sikander invokes Godwin's Law and then basically advocates genocide?

              • Kidnapped, yes.

                Also, from AP:
An American civilian who was beheaded in a grisly video posted on an al-Qaeda-linked Web site had been warned to leave Iraq but refused, U.S. officials said Wednesday.

                • Actually, a soldier is to carry out the order, and then file a grievance with his union representative.

                    • OK, so he was not planning to leave-and that is meaningless. It is not reasonable to think: "Hmm, if I saty, I will be kidnapped and beheaded". The guy is purely a victim-there are hundreds if not thousands of western civilians in Iraq, and the don't become all darwin candidates for being murdered.

If the guy walked into a firefight, that is one thing. Getting kidnapped, nope, no longer his fault in any way.

And you don't see the terrorists apologizing or creating committees to find out what Bin Laden knew and when and if he should resign over this scandal. That's a difference between us and the terrorist. When we do something wrong, we apologize and punish the responsible. On the other hand, the terrorist actually think they are going to heaven and having sex with 70 virgins when they mutilate and kill an american.
Well, let's see here. I don't think anyone other than their fans doubts that the AQ *******s are murdering scum. That's been established for several years now. And they only get the virgins if they die in the attack, and any ol' infidel will do, no need for an American infidel.

In fact, I think our government goes overboard with the self-flagellation. As soon as there is even an allegation of inpropriety, we just love to create commissions and investigations to find someone to blame and tar and feather.
Yes, a few enlisted folk in grades from E3 to E5, and we then conclude these were isolated instances where the aforementioned enlisted folk acted on their own, and at worst, the only stink up top was a lack of proper supervision. So now that justice is done, let us remount that ol' moral high horse.

                          • Who is disciplining Al Qaeda members, other than coalition efforts?
                            Who is court martialing them?
No one? Well ****merunning. Hard to believe.

Why do we need to be better than the enemy? I just want to win.
How do you define winning? Your fearless commander-in-chief continuously touts crap about "freedom loving" and "enemies of peace" and how Saddam was "brutal" and yada yada... All the rhetoric of moral superiority, and why we have a moral imperative approaching the level of a moral duty to invade a sovereign nation a third of the way around the world, in order to impose new leadership.

Yes, by all means, let's nuke 'em. First, since you're conveniently close, Drake, go on down to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At Nagasaki, you might get a cynical chuckle over the poor SOB on guard duty, who had to take a leak at just the wrong time. His rifle, leather kit, and body are preserved (along with the drops on the wall from him taking a leak) by their carbon atoms that welded his silhouette into a stone wall. Let's see if we put ourselves on a par with the Einsatzgruppen in Kiev, or the Japanese in Nanjing, or Stalin's gulag. Yes, we'll "win." Win what, is the question?

                              • This is the treatment we give to the Arabs: whenever a person who happens to be Arabic does something barbarous, there's an immediate media attention.
