EDIT: But I should not be too harsh, we used to have similar rules too, back in the Cold War when I was in the service. You were not supposed to do things like discuss politics or participate in demonstrations while in uniform. And last time they called me for a refreshment excercise, we were not allowed to bring mobile phones. But society has changed dramatically since then.
