For me, it wasn't a choice. For as long as I can remember, I found the shape of the female body more intriguing than the shape of the male body.

So I'm wondering for those who argue out of blissful ignorance that gays chose to be gay . . . .
since heterosexuality and homosexuality are both sexual orientations, one cannot be a choice and the other not -- if you insist that homosexuality is a choice, then heterosexuality must be a choice as well....people like to cry a lot... - Pekka

I've not noticed any Gay dogs or cats, for instance.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

I go with the spectrum theory and I think that the distribution is vastly more even than most people are willing to admit.
also, a spectrum result doesn't make sense to me as far as oreintation is concerned
now I know that there are many genes that affect things, like there is a 'risk' gene (or seek new sensation gene) which definitely encourages more partners, and therefore often more 'bisexual' behavior, but that is still different than intrinsic

So when we are children we are curious about our bodies and play doctor each sex usually checks out the other and so it begins. Just as guys check out other guys in the shower and locker room. Curiousity doesn't necessarily make you gay but it could bring it to the forefront.
I don't think it's necessarily a choice I think it's just how you feel and what you are attracted to. A human should be allowed to feel the way they feel without fear of rejection or retaliation.
See for me this is probably one I should stay out of because I have so many friends and family members who are gay as well as.........**sigh** my ex husband is as well. Which brings me to the point that if you are or if you have those tendencies then you should not attempt to be something or someone you aren't because in the end it only hurts way to many people. He grew up in a small town in Texas where things were just expected of you. And for a long time he tried to live out that life but in the end........ if that isn't who you are then you won't be happy with yourself and you just wind up making the people around you miserable and taking it out on them. You live a lie. But I will say that I also don' t think the gay lifestyle has made him happy either since he has been shunned by family and not accepted for a long time in either world and now it has or will utimately take his life.
But on another note I can without prejudice say he is a complete and total nut case notwithstanding his right to feel how he wishes.Welcome to earth, my name is Tia and I'll be your tour guide for this trip.

Gay dogs? Dogs try to hump everything fool!
It's funny that humans are the only animals that make such a big deal about being gay. So Tommy wants to bend Johnny over.... BIG ****ING DEAL. It's not as if they are making you watch it.
I personally don't care if guys or girls are gay. I want MORE well-groomed, pretty boys chasing other boys. Less competition and MORE WOMEN FOR ME!
Plus, all the lesbians are butch and stuff anyways. All the hot ones are bisexual. To us, it is the BEAST.

(don't remember the title)
But anyway, sex is different between humans and non-sentient animals. For animals, sex is merely functional for reproductive purposes -- for humans (straight or gay) sex has always involved more than mere reproduction. It serves to meet our other wants, needs, or desires that animals do not have.
I've recently became a little weary of gays who are arguing that we are entitled to equal rights on grounds that sexual orientation is not a choice.
Sexual orientation is not a choice, but I do not think we should use such reductionist grounds for arguing for equal rights. I say we might have stronger case with right to conscience and right to intimate life.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

That aside, although I do consider myself a heterosexual and a very cool one thank you very much, I'm fairly sure that if I could get into your scene if I wanted to. I remember my first cup of coffee and bottle of beer - it was bitter and frankly un-appealing, but I eventually tried to develop a taste for the stuff as I instinctively understood the close relations beer and coffee have to human happiness. I think that given time and patience, you can learn to appreciate most things, so one could argue I've made a concious choice to remain a heterosexual, albeit probably not in the sense argued by the bible-thumping crowd. That is pretty much my view too

It's not so much choosing to have sex as being allowed.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
