  • The better team won this series.

****ing Hatcher. I've been cursing him out since the Nashville series. I don't know why we sat Fischer and played Hatcher. He's TOO SLOW, and he gave the puck away more times than I can count. On top of that, he's a dirty bastard.

Best of luck, Flames. As always, I cheer the Canadian teams when my Wings get beat.

    • I wonder what Kipper's stats are now, eh Tingkai? Another shutout, another win, and another 38 saves with no goals.

8 straight periods with no permitted goals against the team that won the President's trophy...I don't care what you say, that's tremendously impressive.

      • Still behind.

        Belfour 2.04 GAA, .932, 3 SO
        Kipper 2.08 GAA, .931, 3 SO

But good work by the Flames.

Once again, the Wings let Cujo down.

        • Not bad for a team with worthless defensemen, isn't it.

          • Yeah, this series makes the Flames look impressive. The last series was easy with Vancouver missing Bert and Coultier. Taking out the Wings, who are earning a rep for choking, shows the Flames have what it takes to go through, especially with the West being weak this year.

            • The last series was easy? Did you even watch it?

You're in your own little world.

If you watched the last series, you'd see it was anything but easy and Auld was right up there with Coultier.

The Wings had the best record in the NHL, so they're not "weak this year".

Calgary is a pesky, hardworking, young team. They can simply outwork whoever they play against, and it's easier when the opposing team is full of old men like Detroit.

                • I'm just saying that with the Canucks missing their second best forward and their starter goalie, the odds were stacked against them. The fact that the Canucks fought through seven games says more about them then the Flames.

                  • The Flames are missing our second best forward, a HUGE chunk of our best defensemen, and our original starter goalie was Turek.

                    • Come on Asher, you can't compare Auld with Coultier. Auld did well for the Canucks, considering he's a #3 goalie, but he is the second backup

                      • So? Kipper was the second backup at the start of this season too.

Auld was very good, expect to see much more of him next year.

                        • Turek lost his job to Kip, who had a chance to prove himself in the regular season. Auld hardly played any regular season games.

                          • Anyways, the Flames victory is perfect for my playoff pool. I'm now one point behind the leader. The guy in third just lost four of his players and he's six points behind with no one left for this round (he's got four Tampa no-names left).

                              • there has NEVER been any public response to an NHL game so unbelievable as the win in Calgary tonight, guaranteed. even back in '89 the city was quiet in comparison

downtown went absolutely INSANE. we shut down the restaurant to watch the game upstairs and the flame on the tower was up before the end of the third. just knowing that that dribbling puck was about to be chipped in by Gelinas in OT brought victorious screams from everyone before the red light

nearly two hours after the goal and back onto the streets from a local pub - traffic was stuffing itself onto center street just to be part of the madness. waiting for the Ctrain, I cheered semis blaring their horns in "go Flames go" fashion, sport bikes with red Jersey clad riders reving at 5000rpm to the same tune, POLICE lighting their sirens and casually joining the action

17th avenue and Macleoud trail was another story. people were turning ON to the absolute gridlock of 17th just to be stuck in the action for the next hour. literally every 10th car in such line with a fan out of the sun roof waving a massive C flag triumphantly. at least every 4th car blaring their horns and ricocheting the smaller corner flags which have become customary for any local automobile. I am home now deep in the southwest of the city and you can hear constant horns from every possible artery, complimented by police sirens from any direction

best of all - those CBC *****ES had no choice but to shut the f* up and finally show enthusiasm for the top Canadian team

star of the game from this Calgarian's perspective? Curtis Joseph. no end of respect for that man and his effort tonight - a class player from an absolutely CLASS team

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VICTORY WHAT IT IS, DETROIT

                                simply - Wow.
