Why? Your little darling pronouncements so invite trolls.
Besides, I doubt conservatives as a whole prefer the citizen army simply due to possible qualitative edge.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Cause you are the ONLY one to ever bring that up-and I have not seen many other anywhere make the claim.

Interesitngly , in the past, the rich were as likely to die in wars as the poor. NOt anymore.
Do you ever tire of being wrong? In the Civil War when conscription became en vogue the big rub was that the rich could buy their way out of service.

What I don't understand is why Hagel is getting all the flak when, in fact, it was Charles Rangel (D, NY) who introduced the bill calling to re-instate the draft... and did so 14 months ago. Now a lot of people said he* did it as a joke, a way to protest the war... but here he still is, calling for the draft.
Of course, their motives are less than exemplary... Rather than having an all-volunteer army face the dangers, they are worried that the death and destruction aren't spread across a broad enough segment of society. Rangle himself complained that minorities (Blacks and Hispanics (He didn't mention Asians/Native Americans/etc... I guess B&H's are the only minorities that count in Rangels world) account for 25% of the deaths in Iraq....
... While ignoring that the army is over 30% black and hispanic.
... While ignoring that the B&H population is 26.5% of the total US population.
Looking at the facts and then juxtapositioning their positions on the issue, Rangel and Hagel are obviously (if unknowingly) calling for an even greater percentage of Black and Hispanic deaths in Iraq.
*The other sponsor on the bill was Fritz Hollings (D, SC).

Wow, I did not know human history begun in 1860!!! WOW, INCREDABLE!!!
So I guess the whole bit about kings having to go to battle, landowners also being warriors, the young sons of the noble having to be kinghts to earn respect and so on counts as, what? Dog history?

Wow! I didn't realize American history and American conscription existed in times of knights!!
Which in the context of Rangel is what he is talking about.

Republican, warmongering, neocon propoganda to get us to all accept the idea of conflict. Of course history only started in 1860...thought you knew that Gepap

You mean like how Republican presidents such as Reagan snuggled with brutal, blood-thirsty dictators in Central America?
Not to mention the fact that the Repbulican party of the 1860s was a vastly different party from the Republican party of today.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Ah, so you're arguing that pursueing (sp?) an unwise couse of action as a leader is immoral as a breach of responsibility... which nevertheless is just and argument that it may not be the most beneficial thing to do. Clearly, the administration thinks it is.
