What is the exact question? Baptism for the dead in general, or the specific situation WRT Holocaust victims?

I'd like to read your opinions about both, but the fundamental justification to the former would be especially interesting.

I (somewhat) understand the concerns and objections to what many would perceive as an action hostile to another's religion.

It is a belief held by the Church that certain steps are necessary to gain exaltation; among these are baptism. Thus, we do baptisms for the dead to provide the deceased with an opportunity to accept or reject the ordinance.

I don't see what rights these groups think they would have to stop the baptisms, nor fully see why it is cause for such outrage. If another religion was performing some ceremony or ordinance for any relative of mine, I wouldn't pursue such lengthy avenues as some of the above groups have done; in my opinion, they would lack the proper keys and power, and as such it would be lacking in authority, and therefore the ordinance would not be binding.

Well, what if theyre just insulted that your going around baptisizng people who don't believe in your faith?
It may have nothing to do with thinking itll send them to hell....Just common decency.

Yet another example of Mormons shoving their religion down other peoples throats

I believe I touched each of those points.

No, you essentially said that Mormons think you can only go to heaven if your baptised and that if another church baptised your dead relatives you wouldn't really care because you dont think its binding.

I said it may not be an issue about whether it is binding or not, and that Mormons are (yet again) forcing Mormonism on other people.

And I said the mere act of baptizing someone of another faith is considered offensive to some.

                          And rightfully so.
Do you agree with the actions of the Mormon Church?

                              On dead people?

Big deal. Sounds like another excuse for mormon haters to complain.
