    Reasonable?

    Nonsense!

They seek to subvert the authority of the governing council, impose their will on international legal matters, and spread filthy lies about the benificent American efforts to spread the light of democracy.

    They must be CRUSHED!

Apparently democracy is too important to allow dissent.

You know Fez, this is one of those wonderful own goals: You make a very stupid, a massively stupid, colossaly stupid, infinitely stupid assumption about what I want, and then you run with it as if it were true-and why do you make such a stupendously stupid assumption? Becuase anyone who disagrees with you must be evil-must be totally wrong, so forth. Hell, Ned and Defiant know better than you in this respect

The other people on this issue are trolls and nothing more then trolls. I haven't seen anything from the other side on this forum that qualifies for anything more then a terrible troll.

That is becuase you take anything that does not agree with you as a troll. That is the cognitive problem you have-you are incapable of accepting an opposing view-you are the worse type of fanatic-and you have a tin ear as well to humor and sarcasm. You are a boy too eager to be right because you are afraid to be wrong.

      I do understand very well.

Every statement you made above disproves this.

I am sure if you want to run at Kalashnikovs with a handgun... you should go join the Iraqi police. That's the reason why.

If most citizens have Kalishnakovs, one wonders why the cops don't-and given that the coalition got rid of the army, and that they were not going to have the army ready by July 1, and they knew this, why they didn;t do more before to get a better trained Iraqi security forces.

        • Yeah, I know, it'd be too far for the American government to allow an independent body to investigate Saddam's atrocities and to allow freedom of the press.

          • Methinks he meant these were ok: "fair and open trial for Saddam, freedom to publish the newspaper again" and that these: "Stop to the arrest of resistance members and the release of resistance POWs" weren't.

                  • Can't. Coffee and I do NOT agree. Effective combo of hating the taste and getting nasty stomach pains if I drink it.

1 diet coke down, another 1/2 gone, though.

I can understand Russia. But Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Czechoslvakia are all finely functioning democracies.

                              • No doubt one aspect of what is happening is straightforward jockying for position. Shi'ite tribal leaders and Sunni tribal leaders have competed with each other for a millenia or two and they will not miss the chance to continue doing so now.

But it is daft to deny the spiritual forces at work side by side with this. Charismatic clerics able to attract a fanatical following are not solely an arab phenomenon. Even in the West, where the materialist has pretty well driven out the spiritual, you get Messianic figures like Charles Manson and James Warren Jones. History is littered with such - greater or smaller. And there are a dozen religions, including Christianity and Judaism, which share with Shi'ite Moslems prophesies of a Godly leader arising during a time of chaos.
