A story in Salon a while back noted that a number of Sistani's followers are itching to fight the Americans as well, if only he'd okay it. The odd thing is, they aren't anti-American. They want to fight the Americans to get them to pay attention to their problems.

Islam Karimov, dictator of Uzbekistan for 15 years springs immediately to mind.

Then there's Gadaffi, apparently we're all going to forget all his terrorist attacks and call him our friend - how nice!

According to Wires as much as 60 US troops may be dead at firefight in Ramadi. There is some speculation if they are sadyr's army or not. Witnesses said they were dressed as Fedayeen paramilitary!

Britain is now sending 4.500 extra troops from 1st Mechanized Brigade to Iraq. Officially it is to replace troops already there, but the 'rotation' will take 'a month'.

updated: 60 casualties (not dead). And the suspected fedayeen insurgents are lobbing mortars and gernades on the compound gunfire heard all through the night.

Witnesses report an intense close range fight

They still dont know who is attacking at Ar Ramadi. News is saying Shia's & witnesses who have seen the bodies say there are dressed like the Fedayeen.

                  Why is "month" in quotations?

Because I am unsure, that what they tell is factual?

I think we need to drastically increase the number of troops in Iraq. Then, implement a major military operation to crush all insurgents.
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

I've read that the american army units in Iraq are already hardpressed when it comes to troops. Some are being sent to Iraq despite bad health.

Still there are, I think, ten divisions which have not been deployed yet.

                              Holy ****!

A Pentagon source has said at least 130 US troops have been killed in fierce fighting in Iraq.

The reports have not been confirmed.

They say twelve, but that seems to be just in Ramadi
