    DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR???

For those who can't make the connection he IS A CARBON COPY OF THE ****ING TALIBAN.

Oh but he is so romantic!!!
Wtf? Someone said he was romantic!!?

    Who said that?

Or has Derek been at the magic mushrooms again...?

Looks like you're hiding behind MtGs apron strings and getting him to fight your wars now eh?

Fallujah has been intensely hostile from the outset. Gee, that's so surprising considering it's a bedroom community for all the Saddamite government types who worked in Baghdad. It's also surprising, since Saddam purposely set up areas of party loyalists on the approaches to Baghdad.
I'd say being the scene of one of the largest number of civilians killed through 'colateral damage' during GWI and that crowd of 15 civilians killed last year didn't help either - it is the site of those two attacks and, gee, it is also the site of the worst resistance in Iraq...

Yes, and the rest of the world would be happy to chow down on Saddam's schlong as long as there was some profit to be made from it, right?
Ah so the US wanted to come out of the shadows and stop chowing down with the rest and just raid the place in a huge (and ongoing) smash and grab operation...

Ah yes, a peace-loving resident gives an objective rendition of how a city of 300,000 Saddamite loyalist only had about 50 guerillas, and everyone else was happily strewing daisies about in the streets until the evil US raped and plundered and pillaged without provocation and drove the poor, peace loving Saddamites to desperation. Sorta reminds me of the old days, like that ******* before the first war who was set up to badger a reporter on TV, and when the Iraqi handlers got the reporter to ask the heckler for his name, the ******* replied "Uy em Saddam Hussein. We ur all Saddam Hussein."
Well at least you're beginning to admit that you think the entire city is a nest of vipers - well we'd better kill them all then!

If we applied Saddam's tactics, Iraqi blood would be flowing all the way downriver and out the Arabian gulf past the straights of Hormuz.
Ah well you see, the US helicopter gunships are more 'precise', unlike the ones that Saddam sent to crush the Shi'ites as the US stood by...

Keep whining, though, you'll get it something right eventually. Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day, so don't give up hope yet.

Wouldn't that be stooping to your levels?

I'll say this, your track record isn't as bad as the chickenhawks for getting stuff spectacularly wrong - but I wouldn't blow my trumpet either if I were you...

And as I've said all along, there are lots of groups with lots of agendas in Iraq.

I'd say being the scene of one of the largest number of civilians killed through 'colateral damage' during GWI and that crowd of 15 civilians killed last year didn't help either - it is the site of those two attacks and, gee, it is also the site of the worst resistance in Iraq...
Maybe being the host of so many high-level Iraqi military, intel and air defence control facilities had something to do with all that "collateral damage." Not to mention the IRG units present in both wars, as well as the logistical links and airfields that were attacked repeatedly in the first war to isolate the KTO from supplies and reinforcemeont. Naaaah, they're just all peaceloving bureaucrats with the Iraqi Department of Parks and Recreation.

Ah so the US wanted to come out of the shadows and stop chowing down with the rest and just raid the place in a huge (and ongoing) smash and grab operation...
Yep, it's ours now, and no more of that sour taste, either.

Well at least you're beginning to admit that you think the entire city is a nest of vipers - well we'd better kill them all then!
Not all of 'em, just most of 'em. Do you really think Saddam wanted just anyone there, given the prominence Fallujah has played in his pseudo-Praetorian Guard view of his self-protection? We don't have to kill 'em all, just the ones who don't realize they're under new management and refuse to get with the program.

Ah well you see, the US helicopter gunships are more 'precise', unlike the ones that Saddam sent to crush the Shi'ites as the US stood by...
I don't remember the Brits or anyone else chomping at the bit to help the Shiites knock off Saddam, and they weren't capable of winning in the first place. Besides, most of Saddam's dealing with the Kurds and Shiites was up close and personal. You don't need much "precision" to carry out mass executions of civilians.

I'll say this, your track record isn't as bad as the chickenhawks for getting stuff spectacularly wrong - but I wouldn't blow my trumpet either if I were you...
As long as our people are getting killed and we're not swimming in tankerloads of cheap oil, nobody has cause to blow their trumpets yet.

Actually after the fall of the taliban when the women were 'liberated' the number of them dying from exploding mines have gone up, and stories of the new warlords raping women abound. In one incedent 30 women chose to drown themselves instead of being raped by the new warlord masters.

This is the most far fetched crap I've ever heard.

Taliban putting women in for their own protection.

Let's go into the stories about women dying from lack of medical care because there was nobody available to treat them.

The Taliban were so brilliant that:

            1) Most women were barred from having job (including doctors)

            2) Women were mostly forbidden to be seen by male doctors.

So, no women doctors, and male doctors not allowed to see them, what a brilliant setup.

              • MOBIUS,

The reason the south is quiet is because it's been anti-Saddam from the start. The area the US occupies is the Sunni Triangle, anyone who has read any media outlet for the past year would know this. Saddam put all of his most loyal supporters there so no duh they are going to be pissed at the US.

Use common sense, I know it's hard when most of your energy is geared toward picking the correct emoticon , bold tags, or ALL CAPS emphasis words.

                • No, the reason is the Brits are much better at occupation duties than you are. They have centuries of experience with it.

                      • I know what would happen - the Brits would do much better because a. their officers and troops are much better trained and disciplined than yours and b. they are far, far better at managing local politics.

                            • You see it every day - the Brits control their area so much better.

And don't give me that malarky about their zone being quieter. It wouldn't be quiet if they bungled it.
