I was in San Diego last week and I experienced my first earthquake!!

It was pretty cool. 5.2 I think.

My plans of singlehandedly bringing down the price of Californian real estate, by provoking a mass exodus from the state, has failed.

Death to the commie-fascist-gay-Zionists who have foiled my schemes!

What?? We voted in Schwartzenegger. That's more to the right than I want to be.

You've obviously never been to a good hurricane party. Tornadoes suck (no pun intended), but hurricanes are mucho fun, and in the right state of mind, the eye is just surreal.

You may have a point on the dog thing, though.

I've lived in Sacramento since 1989, and have never felt a quake.

They've been predicting this for years so I suppose one of these days they'll finally be right.

BTW I went out to the area where the Hecter Mine Quake happened the day after it occured. There was a nice large fault scarpe on the desert floor but not much else. I was visiting Pisgah crater which is a 20 million year old cinder cone volcano in the Majove and the cinder cone itself suffered a fair amount of damage from the quake including a large crack going up its east side.

Could someone explain to me the highway marking system in the US?

                            I-15? US95? WTF?

Last week on the TV news, they said some Swedish scientists had figured out how to predict earthquakes. They found out that the chemical composition of the ground water changes the last week prior to the earthquake, so it could be possible to keep track of that and warn the population a few days in advance.

We are heading for CAL next week. Hope we miss the big one. I timed the 73 (I think that was the year) quake just right last time. It is either tornados in Tennessee or earthquakes in California. There is no rest for the wicked...
