I thought that guy was going to shoot down that helicopter with the AK. But then when Ali Sheedy's friend got capped it was all overwith.
I about cried when that ***** from Dirty Dancing put that grenade under her dying body in order to kill one more commie piece of ****. God bless her, and America.

I'd have to give it to Ho Chi and the Vietcong. Screwing th Frnech at Dien Bien Phu, and then resisting Kennedy's "advisors" not to mention the forces of Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando, Lawrence Fishburne, Dennis Hopper, Harrison Ford, Willem Dafoe, and Johnny Depp.
I was thinking of the Russians and their predecessors the Scythians. They all retreated in front of 1) the Persians, 2) Napolean, and 3) Hitler, using a scorched earth tactics. The battle for Moscow in 1941 was monumental and won by the Soviets. Had it gone the other way, history probably would have been quite different.
Watched a doccu, emtary the other day on Dunkirk and the British and French troops who protected the town whilst the evacuation went ahead did a remarkeable job as they knew that in the end they would lose and were only buying time.
I think it is important to note that the French were crucial to the defense of the pocket.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Vastly over-rated, the English weren't even outnumbered and were facing ships with worse designs and despite that didn't inflict hardly any real casualties (the storms did that).
And Spartans! Those guys were insane, an entire society built around fighting!
I'd like to see IJA versus Spartans.
There would be like nobody left afterwards.
There certainly wouldn't be many Spartans left, given the technological difference... and if you equipped them with modern weapons, they'd still get their asses handed to them, as they spent their whole lives having the idea drilled into them of fighting in formation, which, while very handy in Ancient Greece, is suicidally stupid against machine-guns and artillery.
However, I'll agree they did amazingly well at Thermopylae - they held off a Persian army of hundreds of thousands for something like 2 weeks, and they didn't lose until someone showed the Persians a way around the back of the pass, prompting them to send away all the non-Spartans so they wouldn't be killed.
