Yes, ladies & gentlemen, it is once again the time of the year for the greatest spectacle in college sports. Ever consider that the NCAA doesn't want to do football playoffs because they don't want to do anything that would overshadow the basketball tournament in any way? It just occurred to me now...
Eh, whatever. Let the madness begin.
We are now entering our fifth glorious year, and if I knew what the stone was to symbolize that, I'd bring a picture of it over now, so I won't, and instead, I'll tell you that once again we are at CBS Sportsline and that you can access the pool's website at:
You must be on the player roster in order to access the pool website. If you did not participate in the pool last year, send me a PM with your name and your e-mail address (it must be an actual working e-mail address) and I will send you an invitation. Important note: If you did participate last year, you do not need to sign up again. Simply go to CBS Sportsline, log into your account, and then either cut-and-paste the above URL or select "Lombardi Handicappers' Madness!" from the Fantasy tab.
Obviously, at this time the brackets are not available, and they will not be until early evening on March 14th, Selection Sunday. I highly recommend though that you get your spot in the pool set early, as that week is particularly busy for me in terms of school commitments and CBS's servers are likely to be busy.
The scoring rules are unchanged from last season. All games except the play-in game must be picked prior to the start of the tournament, and correct picks are scored on the following scale:
We could be witnessing history this year. I don't believe that we've ever had a men's tournament where two teams entered with unbeaten records, and Stanford & St. Joseph's both have a chance to do just that.
Off we go!
