The thread starter did not give three variables to judge by. Stinger's chosen ones seem arbitrarily picked merely just to back him up.

The point I beleive of the question was whether the reasons that make Texas different to teh rest of the US are applicable to regions of other countries. IMO those reasons do not fit Wales, NI or Scotland.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Well I thought Texas was similar to Wales based on..

          i) a bit wilder
          ii) a history of separatism
iii) totally different way of speaking
          iv) different politics
          v) claims to independence

            Scotland because of PA's things:

            i) a bit wilder
            ii) a history of separatism
iii) totally different way of speaking
            iv) different politics
            v) claims to independence

            but also

            vi) loads of oil.

Scotland doesn't have loads of oil... North Sea oil runs through Shetland.

And all those work for NI, which has a stronger claim and desire for independance than the others.

More people in NI want indepence than in scotland or Wales

PA: How so? It's the only one that has violence over it, it's had an assembly for longer than Wales or Scotland (IIRC) and some of it's major parties advocate independance (sure, there's one in Wales and one in Scotland, but not the votes like there are in NI for them). Does Wales or Scotland want to break away? Not in the same numbers that NI wants to. Also the Irish Sea in between, the fact it's not connected, does help the practicalities of independance.

I'd much rather have no texases than three!

Unconnected reasons. And there is plenty of anti-English violence I've witnessed.

                            For sure.

A large majority in wales and Scotland do not want independence from the UK, the majority in NI is much smaller.

Not on the same scale at all.
