France's military capabilities were NOT better than Nazi Germany's in WW2. They had more tanks, yes... but they were poorly deployed and much more inferior to German tanks... same with aircraft... small arms... and artillery.
Again, as Spiffor noted, some of the French tanks were better. And the poor deployment is what killed them
