Well, maybe I WANT to turn big and green and musclely.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
Go about your normal business, the chances of being hurt in a terrorsit attack in the US are very very small
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Biological or Chemical
Stay in your house at ALL TIMES, use the neat duct-tape-and-plastic trick that Asscroft showed you, and live off the stack of canned foods that you should have already had just in case of an apocolyptic doomsday.
Nuclear
If you manage to come out of the smoking rubble and are still living, then get to some kind of aid station.
Apocalypse
If your neighborhood isn't caught in the fires or nuclear war, then be thankful. Round up all your friends and neighbors, and try to gang together to survive. Get lots of weapons, but DO NOT KILL ANYBODY. This will only piss them off more, and waste ammo that you could need if a roving gang should come across you later. Only attempt to forage for safe, non-radioactive food, and recruit new people for it (their minds having been turned to mush by all the radioactive fallout, this shouldn't be too hard). Seal your house in plastic sheeting and tape anyways (never too safe), and be prepared because for the next several weeks, the sky is going to rain fire and dust that makes it impossible for outside survival at all. (That's why you stocked up on foods earlier.) And make sure you kill the new, mutant giant cockrats that terrorize the remaining populace. They will probably have a hell of a fight in them, and need two or three men to bring them down, but you can pull through if you merely exercise some common sense. (Also watch out for the new, mutated attack hummingbirds. One of them is nothing, but a whole flock will ruin your whole time.)

With the high terror alert, just want to know. I live in Los Angeles, right in the middle of it, and want to survive a terrorist attack. What do I do?
Don't bother with duct tape and plastic tarp.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
You're ****ed in LA. You aren't getting out of that town alive.
In that case, you do want to use duct tape and plastic wrap. Leaving the city is not an option. You want to have a safe room in your house where you can hole up for a few days until the wind blows any chemical weapons away, and rain washes them down the drain (though rain in L.A. could take months- as it is where I live ). This isn't as useful for a biological attack though. As you will have to hole up much, much longer. You want to survive long enough until all the other people die off. Because until they die, the health care places will be jammed with people, and will be unusable.
In case of small nuclear detonation, the safe room is also useful. Any nuke detonation will be small tactical yields. If it is a megaton soviet grade weapon, you won't be alive to know it- so don't worry about it. You will most likely survive a tactical nuke unless you are in downtown near the blast site. You want the safe room to minimize the entry of fallout contamination into your house. But in this case you will want to seal every window- not just 1 room. Because eventually you would want your house to be livable. You want to try to prevent the interior of your house from being contaminated- if it is- you will have to clean it. The outside areas will be contaminated- hopefully a good rain will wash much of that way. Of course fallout remains suspended in the air for a long time. But prevailing winds may blow much of that away. You will get some significant exposure- but you may live.
Other terrorist attack on infrastructure- make sure you have enough food and water. I would say warm blankets- but you live in LA. It would help to have a porta-potty outside as you won't be able to use your toilet without water. But not many people like having a portable-potty in their backyard . But that ins't totally necessary. You just need to stay long enough until the roads clear and you can evacuate the city and get somewhere where there is water.
All the safe room crap is almost totally useless for one big reason. Any terract in the U.S. won't be announced with anything obvious like a missile. It may be a "silent" attack. Using either the release of biological agents (which could be done silently), or using a crop duster to spread chemical agents. You won't have advanced warning of this. If you are outside, you will likely be exposed to it before you can ever get your safe room set up.
I've been thinking a lot about this. I think the terrorist may try to blow up Hoover Dam. If they succeed, we will run out of water quickly. As Lake Mead will quickly drain. Las Vegas will turn into a ghost town. They could try to truck in all that water until new piplines are built. But waiting in lines for water wouldn't be all that much fun. I'd want to leave, but I'd have to stay so I can shoot looters.
