      I've already pointed this out.

        Revisionist!

The key difference between what I (and others) have been writing is that the holiday was lifted COMPLETELY from the pagans, and yuo keeps saying "some traditions." There is a gulf between those two statements. Some does not equal all.

It's not all -- simply because of the fact that it was not possible for pagans to celebrate the birth of someone before he/she was born.

Merry Christmas to all the Xians.
Happy Hanukkah to all the Jews.
Happy Rammadan to all the Muslims.
              And that Quanza thingee, too.

I think there is nothing wrong in celebrating a holiday, as long as you don't bring any special historical meaning to it. I certainly don't celebrate the grand victory of the jews over the Seleucids, nor the fact that the oil can lasted for 8 days. I celebrate family, and friends, the way it should be.

I'm a Christian, and while I celebrate Christmas with my family and friends, I try to remember the real reason why I celebrate -- the birth of Jesus Christ.

The point you keep failing to understand is, the Xian simply substituted one god for another. The names were changed to prevent the ignorant from becoming suspicious.
