"I'm a Christian, but as of yet, I have not found a congregation that I can feel welcome, and where I enjoy expressing my belief/faith."

That's because you live in eastern Illinois, one of the åssholes of the United States.

Um -- I've only been in eastern Illinois since early August.

I was talking about when I was still in my home city in eastern Iowa and my experience with this one, particular Episcopalian priest's offish attitude.

Yeah well, there's no huge difference between rural Illinois and Iowa, from my perspective. I don't like either of them, and I probably never will.

Uhm, yes. What, you think the C of E went somewhere? In the U.S., they became the Episcopalian Church, because it wasn't considered good form to have the head of your church be the guy you just lead a revolt against, but they are still part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. As we used to call outselves (when I was still Xian), "country club Christians."

Reinventing things is part of the GENIUS of religion, not a mark against it. When religions CEASE to reinvent, when they become rigid and unchanging, is when they die.

No one's saying they can't ('cept those damn 7th-Day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses ). We just want Fun to acknowledge he's celebrating a holiday that was completely lifted from paganism. He's in denial.

I guess he could point out that by putting new meanings in Christians completely transformed the holiday, rendering it into something new.

or socialism and communism grow out of capitalism, and end up novum.
