Can you give some suggestions to good Finnish metal bands? I like Nightwish, Children of Bodom and Finntroll

Overall, the state of the finnish music scene has been abysmal as long as I can remember. Maybe they could break into the german market. That's the way things are and there's probably a number of reasons behind this. A couple of decades back this must have been a drag. Nowadays however, the music scene has gone global and there's no real problems in finding good music from pretty much anywhere if someone just puts some effort into finding it. If the local, regional, national or continental music scene sucks, just screw it and go global.

The only Finnish-language band I can name off the cuff is Eppu Normaali.

OOoooh Yamma Yamma! It was our entry to Eurovision song contest.. Yeah the Swedes gave us few points, like they always do. I think they feel sorry for us.

It was performed by Pave Maijanen. He was supposed to win. Like every single contestant we have sent.. there's always huge hype 'THIS YEAR WE WILL TAKE IT!' and everybody is so sure.. 0 points is what we are used to though.

All the other Finnish rap artists. In seven words: Finnish people are not meant to rap.

Don't feel bad; all non-Americans are not meant to rap, with the exception of Slick Rick.

Kardinal Offishall would have something to say about that.

Munck (Finally your true identity is revealed), your ability to remember mundane facts about me is terrifying. I suspect you keep a Stefu folder in your closet and have it covered with Stefu stickers. AND THAT'S NOT THE ONLY STICKY THING IN THE FOLDER, EITHER.

Ooo, one Finnish 'rapper' I meant to mention but forgot: Kana. The truly atrocious thing about Kana is that she's hosting two children's programs and is insufferably cheery in both of them.

I think next year we should just honestly send Impaled Nazarene to Eurovision to perform Nyrkillä Tapettava Huora. Sure, they wouldn't understand it, but at least when we get the null poänger once again we'd have a good reason for it.

Another option would be Tony Halme (the man in my avatar!) and "Painu Pelle Hiiteen", his brilliant Finnish-language cover of "We're Not Gonna Take It".

You don't want English translations. YOU COULDN'T HANDLE THE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS. I mean, why do you think that Finland is the suicide capital of the world?

One more with The Rasmus and Maija Vilkkumaa in the "inconsequential pop-rock but not THAT horrible" category - Anssi Kela. I still hold my theory that whatever the record company is that keeps cracking out the records has a big old machine in the basement, and about few years ago or so they plopped in there every Finnrock record ever made, turned a big crank and out popped Anssi Kela, the ultimate average pop-rock artist, who looks kinda handsome and has all those kinda catchy songs which all sound the same.

I guess that the Finnish music world can't be saved by anything other than another Matti Nykänen album

"Stefu" means zoophile as in the sentence "The three stefi took on twenty fluffy bunnies."

Stefu, it's no grand feat to remember certain mundane facts about you when they're repeated over and over throughout the years that passed. That's why I remember you're born on February 29 and that you have the sex appeal of a small cantaloupe.
