YES! Fantastic news! Hopefully this will remove some of the inspiration for many of the attackers and that attacks against coalition forces might start to subside.
Best of all he was actually captured without a shot instead of being blown to smithereens like his sons - now he can go to trial for his crimes!
What we need to do now is hand him over to the Iraqis and let them try him! A fair trial of course...
Hopefully this will speed up the process of getting Iraq back on its feet as the shadow of Saddam is finally lifted...
Given the humiliating way he was captured in a hole with less than a million dollars, I doubt very much at all he had anything to do with the resistance effort - time will tell.

YEEEEESSS!!!! Way to go USA!!
This is HUGE meaning, you know it. Now, Iraqis don't have to be afraid of Saddam getting back at them, because he's not going to be walking the streets of Iraq anymore! HUGE setback (biggest possible) for resistance, HUGE morale boost for allied forces and USA and Iraq... People started wondering if he can ever be caught.. but he got caught.
In da butt.

Ah WHOO! They got the a$$hole! But... attacks I think will happen more often, and more deadly for a week or two... but after that, the REAL rebuilding can start, (now, if only we can get osama....)Former President, Vice-president and Foreign Minister of the Apolyton Civ2-Democracy Games as 123john321

First of all, first prize to Winston for being the frst one cynical enough to bring up politics and use this to dneounce the other side: well done buddy!
My first reaction to the photos was, how come his hair isn;t all white? Those pics they were showing of him don;t look anything like this.
It is great that he was captured, and captured like he was_ basically totally humiliated-hidding in a hole in the ground, puts up no fight whatsoever, looks like a scared old man..this crushes the image he spent 30 years cultivating
NOw, the big questions are:
1. Does this have any affect on the violence? Hard to say, but right now we see how the assumptions about the insurgency correlate to the real world: now that the biggest "dead-ender" is in custody, what happens?
2. How is risoner Hussein treated? This depends on how he is qualified-if they charge him with war crimas and crimes against humanity this bring up the third question:
3. What venue will he be tried in? An Iraqi court, or an international tribunal? (for acts committed against Iran and Kuwait as well). This wil be a tough decision to make.
the fourth question is what he has to say, and how does it come out: lots of people want to talk to this guy, pick his brain: in theory he answer to the WMD and link to Al Qaeda question are his, and you can;t be in power 30 years and not know things you and I don't know, even about other events. So will the Military allow him press access or not?If you don't like reality, change it! me
