  • Saddam Hussein arrested

just read it on a german news site:
Nach acht Monaten der Flucht ist Saddam Hussein der US-Armee in die Hände gefallen. Der Ex-Diktator kauerte in einem Schmutzloch auf einem Bauernhof südlich von Tikrit. Bei seiner Verhaftung war er bewaffnet - doch er ergab sich ohne Widerstand.

the article says he has been arrested in Tikris. details will certainly follow.
no matter if you were pro war or contra war this is definately good news.

Whoa! While reading that Spiegel article it is reported on Dutch radio too. They say there will be a press announcement at 13:00 GMT+1 (7 AM EST?).
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
      Once again...

Waits for the enraged lefties to denounce this as yet another attempt to cover up the fact that it's all about oil and Bush's re-election.

Always remember, there is no such thing as good news where Iraq is concerned.

It's live on CNN right now!

We ought to given him a fair chance to escape again - a count of 20? before we open fire.

I'm really curious what will happen now. Will the U.S. turn him over for a trial at the Hague? I doubt it. The U.S. will probably try him in the U.S. for war crimes. Though I don't think that would be possible as war crimes is an international crime, not a national crime.

Spiegel may be a somewhat biased source, but they´re usually the first site reportng important news.
they still edit the article and bring more and more details. now they say people in Kirkuk run on the streets and celebrate.

concerning foxnews, I guess they will mention it next year a couple of weeks before the prez-elections.

FoxNews is running a rerun of their big story show which airs earlier in the evening I believe. They just don't have the staff CNN has.

CNN has the British anchor covering things as the lead anchor with other people on phone with him.

Fox News just now reporting on it. They dropped the ball on this one. You would think their buddies in the Bush administration would have hooked them up.
