I dislike overt chest thumping patriotism but if you asked me if I was glad I am Australian then I would say yes, absolutely.

I have the honour to represent my country every day of my life through my work and I try and do so as best I can with a quiet understated Australian sort of dignity and pride.

Lurking under that typical Australian shyness and understatement is a steely determination to get what we need for our country.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

insert American where it says Austrailian and thats exactly how I feel.

I was just teasing the Canadians, they're really on par with the rest of the US

I'm not particularly patriotic, but I have varying degrees of support for groups that diminishes the further you get from my socio-geographic grouping.

I am moderately patriotic. I don't think Canada is necessarily the greatest country on earth, but it's pretty Cthulhu-eating great. At the very least, it's not Bushistan.

Of course, I wrote the following today for kicks, so whatever.

          A Hymn for Canada

          A northern sea glimmers
          Of maple and beaver
A vast congregation of people and land

          Our red autumn forests
          Our white winter prairies
Both wave in the zephyr that glides overhead

          United in spirit
          French, English, and other
On this fine rock that the First Nations hewed

          We've fought against Boches
          We've fought against Boers
We'll smite and/or help all who stand in our way

          Inspired by freedom
          And lauded by Nature
          In Ottawa's written immortal decree

          Our borders are open
          To those who will gather
To live and to prosper, forever be free

          Our nation has heart
          Our nation is limber
Confederation will thrive and inspire the world

          United in spirit
          Our nation is limber
To live and to prosper, forever be free

I suppose I'm patriotic in my own way. I very firmly believe in the principles on which my country was founded, and I believe in defending those principles. I hardly agree with everything that my country does, and I frequently disagree with the leadership. I just don't think that those are necessarily mutually exclusive.

Hell, the man asked for money. That sounds more like a capitalist then a socialist to me.

ehh. I think I had a thread on this.

I don't feel paticularly patriotic even though I was in the military.

But when they sing the national anthem, or do god bless america, I can't help but get that weird feeling in my stomach and chest.

So I guess I am a little bit. Though the goverment disgusts me in too many ways imaginable.

Sweden's greatness is built on immigration and foreigners?
