Not exactly. I don't have Kazaa Lite, but all of them seem to go by the username kazaaliteuser@kazaa. If they're all named the same thing, they might be harder to track down.

All of the lawsuites I've seen aren't for downloading but for hosting/offering items for download. I download all sorts of stuff from Kazaa Lite but I make sure that my shared folder stays empty so I won't be on the recieving end of a lawsuit.

I guess that makes me a leach but I'm a leach who won't be getting any summons.

They're not interested in the name, only the ip.

Leaches will destroy the file sharing programs alot sooner then the RIAA every will.

eDonkey/eMule forever. It has a wider selection and it tends to keep me at an honest 1:1 ratio without any wild swings one way or another.

K lite automatically blocks all known RIAA IP addresses and they are constintly updating as the RIAA changes IPs. K lite also makes it more time consuming for the RIAA to figure out a persons IP address. That won't stop them but it does mean they'll have to devote more man hours to each case and, in the end, they'll have to file fewer cases.

Since the RIAA is forced to file fewer ases it will naturally concentrate it's efforts upon the worst offenders. People who offer thousands of files and who opporate as super nodes will get sued first and most of the rest of us will slip below their radar screen. That will still mean fewer files will be offered for download and it will take longer to download what is available but the RIAA can't stop it. They can only slow it down.

I stopped using Kazaa regularly a long time ago...just use it once in a while to find "popular" files that aren't on emule or winmx or IRC....

Yep, that's the main problem of P2P sharing...

eMule tends to put all desirable files in remote queues.
