Why do Asian people have trouble saying r's and l's?

I've been teaching adverbs, which is probably the only reason I got it. Can't count how many adjectives I've added "-ly" to in the past couple weeks.

Who are you teaching them to? Seems like after you've figured out the adding '-ly' to the adjective, there wouldn't be a whole lot else to discuss.

it only looks like lee for koreans. usually it's better romanized yi, but pronouced ee.

sorta like how roh is really noh.

Japanese high schoolers. They probably already knew it, actually, but you'd never know it from talking to them. Makes it hard to teach them when they never reveal their true ability.
