What do "the meek" have to do with socialism?

The word's origin comes from horse training and a horse that was "meek" was smart and disciplined...

While we're at it, there weren't any "corporate bigwigs" in ancient Jerusalem either, so I'd say they're even. Anyway, I suspect that he's referring to the fact that most of our NT comes from Greek translations, which would presumptively have used the most appropriate word.
Also note that "inheriting the earth" doesn't automatically mean bloody Marxist revolution or whatever. The more sensible interpretation would be to read it as a reference to the general resurrection. Also, note that Christianity has messages of turning the other cheek, forbearing in times of suffering, "slaves, obey your masters," etc. The early disciples, as recorded in Acts, did live in communes of sorts, but the giving wasn't forced as it is under communism. Just to forestall the S.A.B.s, and the Commie Annotated Bible if there is one, and any others out there, Ananias (I think that was his name) and his wife were not struck dead for failing to share, but for lying and saying that they did. That particular argument is based on a hasty and apparently biased reading..

God, some people here form both sides are really hung up on communism..give it ai break. NO, Christianity does not advocate communism: communism (OK, Marxism) is a modern socio-economic theory developed out of the works of the Enlightenment. But Christianity is not very capitalism firendly either, and capitalism itself is an economic theory that is a product of the Enlightenment. So bacisally, the Bible is not on either side, and if someone like Pat Robertson associates Christianity with Capitalism, he is a bigger idiot than I thought. If you don't like reality, change it! me
