Just saw it... and I loved it. Little substance (boiled down, just a chick-oriented revenge flick), but it's got a whole lotta cool. It starts off strong, with the fight between Uma and Vivica, and end on an interesting note with ramifications for part 2. Lots of blood, but I love that in a film. Still not as gory as "Dead Alive", but what is?
Don't expect another "Pulp Fiction" or "Reservoir Dogs" (my fave Tarantino film), but I think if you watch it without any expectations other than to be entertained, you'll leave the theater happy.

As far as I'm concerned Tarantino is way over-rated. The only good thing about his chef d'oevre "Pulp Fiction" was one really spiffy line: "I'm going to have to get medieval on your buttocks". The fact that that piece of garbage got Academy Awards is the best single piece of evidence that the Academy Awards are utterly meaningless.
Actually that award goes to "Bowling for Columbine" hands down.
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

It also saddens me to see Uma Thurman fall from being the raven-haired beauty on the cover of Pulp Fiction to the ghastly, anorexic-looking beast that we see today.
The irony here being that Uma looked her ghastly anorexic-lookingist in Pulp Fiction. From the previews I've been of Kill Bill she looks much healthier now.
Of course, Uma T. does nothing for me and I think she only ever looked good once, stepping off the giant seashell in Terry Gilliam's Baron Munchausen.
But WTF do I know?

volume two comes out this winter I think. Or early next year- which is still winter.
From what I heard is Tarantino has had some problems cutting the film down to under 3 hours towards 2 hours. You know how these artistic filmakers are. They agonize over every cut and edit they have to make. So Tarantino and the movie studio agreed to release it in two parts.
But for twice the work. Surely making 2 parts to this is like anyone making 2 seperate movies. He's put the work in to make two movies worth then why not have it as two movies. I don't want to sit through 3 hours plus trailers for one film, yet cutting it often leaves out interesting bits. Therefore a 2 parter seems the best option. Whats wrong with making two films and charging the same to see each?

I believe that the whole thing was split into two because Harvey Weinstein wanted to hedge his bets and not release a potential 3 hr bomb into the theaters. That's harder to recover from that a 1.5 hr bomb.
If you look around and think everyone else is an *******, you're the *******.
