Will you say the same thing if the recall wins 60-40 and Arnold gets 40% of the vote?
Yup.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
Why? This could have never happened if people were not mad at Davis for what he has done to the state. I am talking about what he has done after the Nov 2002 election, not to mention what he did before that. You cant get 2,000,000 people to sign the petition to get the recall started if people were happy with Davis.

No Repug is playing dirty though.
Dan Issa played dirty, by funding the recall effort.
Course, if Arnie wins, the Dems are gonna do the same thing, initiating a recall against Arnie.
I feel sorry for you Californians. Stuck between Davis and Arnie.
Y'all really need to fix that recall amendment. It's a good idea but its badly implimented.

I think around 15,000,000 voters will come to the polls, that means anther recall effort will need at least 1.5 million signitures. I doubt a anther recall will work. As for Issa, he just speed up the process more.
Do you think anyone will bother to turn the ballot over and vote on prop 53 and 54? Will be interesting to see what the counts are on these issues. 53 and 54 are just as important (if not more so) than the recall...

I don't think 40% is good enough to be elected to office. Y'all should have instant run-off, so you can at least get someone in who has majority support.
I also think Davis is being unfairly blamed for the budget short-fall, considering the Feds have practically cut the states off. The Federal budget is massively in arrears, and so are 38 other states.
I've never liked Davis, btw, and I'm happy enough to see him go. Nor do I think Arnie's politics are all that bad, considering. But there doesn't seem to be a respect for the democratic process. That's what concerns me most.
The Repugs have started something ugly, which is now going to be used perpetually as a weapon by both sides. The recall succeeded because a million pumped millions of dollars in, hiring out of state consultants to gather signatures. Though it tapped into a deep dissatisfaction, I doubt it was capable of sustaining itself without money and outsiders. Now the Dem's are gonna do the same thing if Arnie wins, and it will just keep gonig until the law gets fixed.

Because they've been trying to disenfranchise the Democratic party voters. The recall in Cali is part of the same strategy as the gerrymandering in Texas and the vote fraud in Florida.
Are the Republicans to blame for Progessive era reforms made in the early 20th Century?
Dan Issa played dirty, by funding the recall effort.
Oh come on, che! If 1.5 million is all it takes to throw a governor out of office, Cali. wouldn't have had one last a year. IIRC, these things have been going on since Reagan was governor there.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Well if you combine the Mclintock and Arnold vote it totals up to 55% of the vote. And who knows what the final results will be in the end. As far as recall being using again, it has already been tryed 35 times against a sitting governor since it has been past, and is used against local office holders a lot. I doubt this will result in more recalls of the governor.
Che, I agree that the recall is a nasty weapon that will now be exploited. It's a political pandora's box if you wish. Yet, it was installed through democratic processes so I don't see how it is a demise of the system. Yes it needs to be fixed, but that is the beauty of our system, is it not?
For once, I will also agree that there should be a majority vote here... Don't quote me, this is the only time... Maybe that is how we can fix the recall measure.
Davis is being blamed for the budget problem, and it is wrong. Yet, when there is less to spend what is spent needs to be looked at more closely.
Billion dollar contracts to Texan Electrical distributers and gas collectors is rediculous, and he messed up there, and hasn't even apologized for it.
Millions of dollars to Sheriffs and other special interest groups when they don't need the money.
Taking money from education.
Raising taxes and fees on everything from bubble gum to cars.
Giving illegals political rights.
many countless other things...
The guy needs to be outed, even if he isn't to blame for the deficit, he didn't help any. It is just easier to tell the stupid public this...
One thing I think is funny is that they are using the budget deficit as campeign boost for the Dems, claiming the have spent less than anyone in the past... No sheit! Because there is no money, you spent it all in your first term on Texas!!!
Actually Japher the rate payers are paying for the contracts not the tax payers. The problem was that they spent money like there was no tommorrow and did not think that the internet boom would bust. Even with that, the state still took in more taxes then when Davis was first in office. The problem is that spending outpaced the increase in the taxes coming in.
I think the way California is doing the recall the election is stupid. Recalling the governor because people don't like him is using a good idea ( the power to recall) for bad purposes.
che, I think your saying the repulicans playing dirty is selective critizism. I know you don't like many dems either but dont be like Arianna Huffington and use it as an excuss to trash people. All of them are equally worthless. I watched the debate on TV and the only people there that actually talked about solutions were McClintock and the green canidate.
The recall thing has to be gotten under control before this becomes a trend..

I don't think that's amazing at all. The press does stufff like this all the time.
I thought that they did just the opposite. Not verifying a story can lead to libel suits.
The problem here is that no one even asked Butler to verify the quotes or reported that Butler originally said that Arnold was anti-Nazi.
It clearly was a malicious political attack on Arnold done not for informational purposes at all.

I don't personally care whether Arnie becomes gov or not of Cali, specially as I don't live there. I do, however, hate to see the Repugs rewarded for playing dirty.
Davis should resign.
It makes no difference if he does. The vote still goes ahead and is binding.
Davis had it made until he started bringing in Gore etc. and doing the "vast right wing conspiracy" crap of a nationwide Republicans stealing elections. Davis barely beat Simon, whose politics are anathema in California, because people disliked Davis so much already.
Instead of either shutting up and dropping out of sight and letting the circus atmosphere make people leery of the recall, or else verbally accepting responsibility for his failures, Davis kept up the same old BS of foisting the blame off on someone else - and it's backfired on him.
Besides, how did the Republicans play dirty?
