Ten is a flaming pile of **** compared to the genious that is Vitalogy. People like Ten because it has catchy radio tunes on it. But then again, the people that like Ten are the same people that think Nevermind is one of the greatest albums ever .

This in itself is enough for many people to refuse liking these songs.
It's not BECAUSE it's catchy it is bad.
I can hardly call nirvana catchy btw...

no way, dude. vitology is a steaming pile of horsepuckey. just because something is catchy and popular doesn't immedeately bar it from being good.

sure, a lot of underrated bands are great, but great bands can be popular, too. crickey, look at audioslave. there's not one bad song on that album...

The reason Nirvana gets the credit is because Cobain came across as completely honest, and his angst struck a chord with a generation of disenfranchised youth. None of the other bands did.

And I think Unplugged showed a lot of potential for the direction the band could go. Too bad for us.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Teen Spirit is probably the best pop-rock composition of the 90s. I'm not even a big fan of Nirvana and don't own any of their albums, but that song impressed me immediately as something that would have an impact.

Re: Alva and Self Biased. I never said Ten was bad. I said it wasn't as good. There's a difference.

I'm sorry, I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and Vitalogy is my favorite album, but Nevermind is better than any album Vedder and Co. ever put out. I think Pearl Jam is a better band than Nirvana overall, but it isn't really a fair comparison seeing as how Cobain capped himself before we could see how the band would evolve.
