Eh. If you're going to make a living teaching a socially irrelevant set of ideas, you should go for modern art. It's easier to get the teaching requirements, the crowd is cooler and only a little more weird, nobody will mail you explosives or scream at you, you can never be proven incorrect, and I think we can all agree that the women are much better-looking on the arts scene. Seriously though, it is societally irrelevant. I'm not saying it shouldn't be taught, just that it has no specific value that isn't also present in, say, sports trivia. Less, actually, seeing as you can't win money at bars by betting on a fine detail in the rise of opposable thumbs. What makes evolution more valuable knowledge than Art History or Modern Dance?
