    Eh. If you're going to make a living teaching a socially irrelevant set of ideas, you should go for modern art. It's easier to get the teaching requirements, the crowd is cooler and only a little more weird, nobody will mail you explosives or scream at you, you can never be proven incorrect, and I think we can all agree that the women are much better-looking on the arts scene. You can take my word for the last part, I've been to plenty of art classes...

        I want to either write crap about other peoples' records or dictate what people are forced to listen to on the radio. I'm currently in training for both of these positions.

              There are more relevant things out there. Like spellcheck.
              Seriously though, it is societally irrelevant. I'm not saying it shouldn't be taught, just that it has no specific value that isn't also present in, say, sports trivia. Less, actually, seeing as you can't win money at bars by betting on a fine detail in the rise of opposable thumbs. What makes evolution more valuable knowledge than Art History or Modern Dance?
