A friend of mine once worked for the San Diego Zoo. She was feeding the lions one day, and got just a little too close, and the lion reached out an snagged her sneaker with a claw (missing her fortunately). For the next couple seconds she and the lion were playing tug of war to see who would get my friend's foot (she was being helped by another animal feeder, cuz a single human's no match for a lion). Then the sneaker came off.
