Bob Costas is god...
I thought you said sportswriters were idiots... sportscasters are just as bad.. if not worse.

Costas isn't a sportscaster; he's an institution, a living legend, a demi-god and he, in his enlightened state, does all of mankind a great favor by denouncing the wild card. Hallowed be his name.
He's a hack.. and a crappy sportscaster. Call the God damn game Costas! Who the Hell gives a crap about the guys cats or whatever. He's ****.

I love George Will... hate Costas.
Will writes good columns. Costas sucks at broadcasting games. Give me Joe Buck over Costas in a national baseball game. But the local broadcasters are much better. They focus on the game and the teams and not on human interest stories.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I'm gonna have to switch gears here and side with Drake on the Bob Costas debate. The man is a genius."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Nope. Under my revised system, they don't qualify--two losses max.

You almost have to be a genius to have no talent and still make people think you are a good sportscaster.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

One thing I noticed from this thread is that the most responses weren't for the actual games, but the ensuing controversy in the last week.
I guess the saying is true that there's no bad publicity.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Dan, are you saying college football is all talk and little action.
