How so? The vast majority of our people fly direct from the States anyway (well, they make a stop-off in Ireland for Iraq). This isn't like it used to be.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

There are some really big bases in Germany and Italy (as well as other parts of Western Europe) which represent ALOT of capital being spent to build them up. They're very useful in transporting ligistics and many of our medical facilities in Germany are the closest first rate military hospitals to Iraq. I know in Kosovo soldiers and civilians who were injured almost always got air lifted to German bases because that's where we had our best military hospitals in Europe.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

It took me just over 20 hours (not counting the stop Newfoundland) to fly from the San Francisco bay area to Germany via a C-141. Remember that the C-141 is one of the fastest military transport planes we have.
It's much better to have forward bases then to try to take all of the wounded and all of the supplies directly to the country in question especially since we don't know what the next country in question is going to be.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

When you want somethign from someone and they're giving you a hard time, you can point to the bunker you've built in their backyard.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter.
