Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

hehe, we had this American in my basketball team once who when in a curry house asked for the hottest thing they had, as he liked his food seriously spicy. They pointed to the Phaal on the menu, but said that they had something extra special as well.
Upshot was that he had to drink half a glass of milk for every bite he ate, and that he couldn't play (or sit) the next day. He did finish half of it, and took the rest of it home in a doggy bag.. not sure if he ate it
As for local food... I remember the chicken kebab i used to get in manchester. They used to bake the nan bread in front of you, put in the chicken, then you'd get salad, tomatoes, chillie sauce, mint sauce and some mango chutney, topped off with some chilies. Best food ever.
