  • I hate smoking.

A rather short while ago I started smoking because of assorted reasons - mostly stress and such. I hate it, and I also really don't need the lung damage. Yet even this early in the game I don't seem to be able to stop.

    ****.

welcoem to my world I smoke for alooong time. I enjoy it, but I want to stop. Cant do it.

The only thing I havent tried is hanging up pictures of damaged lungs in my car, room, or bathroom. THat would probably work.

Try one of the patches or whatnot to quit smoking.

Or, just quit it. Make the resolve. If you have strong enough willpower, you'll be fine.

(I always hated smoking more for economic reasons, i.e. it costs like the ****, than health reasons. Money is the main reason I don't. Health is the second. Also, they're related, because not smoking now saves money on healthcare later.)

Have you tried those nicotine gums? I don't mean starting with the intention of actually quitting; can you just switch your addiction over to straight nicotine so you get a cheaper and less harmful fix? I hear it's just not as satisfying as actually smoking, but maybe you can rough it just enough to spare your wallet and lungs, just give your gums or something cancer instead...

dont. Nico-gum and patches are money traps. Your best bet is a couple pounds of choclate, 4 days off work and a girlfriend to help

Find something else to feel good at.

Ask your girlfriend if she'll "reward" you for quitting smoking

You need a reason to quit. I used to smoke a pack a day and I wanted to quit. Then I met my husband and he didn't like smoking. The day after I met him I quit. You need friends and a lot of things to do for awhile. Just do it. Decide that you're going to do it and just do it. I don't think you need those patches and such. They just continue your nicotine addiction.

Don't see the point in gums/patches. If anything, I might switch to the pipe entirely for money and lungs.
                      Best idea: Get a girlfriend.

I never started smoking cigs, although I do enjoy a good cigar every once in a while.

The valuable lesson: Keep away from your grandma while you're trying to quit smoking.

Yeah, don't hang out with smokers while you're trying to quit. Avoid movies where people smoke too.
