Well I don't think the deploy anywhere, and second of all, I've heard from many places that it's not very professional.

No. Spanish Foreign Legion does not accept you even if you wanted to go. So, realistically options for you are joining the US military (but you have to be on permanent resident status, or work something else out, which can be possible you being Canadian, maybe I don't know), IDF and the French Foreign Legion. I'm not sure how service in the IDF goes though, you might have to do other things than 100% soldiering. I think you might have to do other kind of service a lot.... I don't know, Israelis can fill in and say how it is, but I believe you are not allowed to go the whole 9 yards.

In FFL you will be signed for 5 years, which is a LONG time if you don't like it, and the pay is not very good considering where you are coming from. If you choose to take this journey, I can give you some links that will help you forward, and there are few forums that ex-legionnaires visit, so you can ask them. I doubt this is what you want though.. but if it's career you want to do, it's good place for you.

And you know.. everyone is scared. Except psychos. You just have to deal with it and learn to perform under it, and you'll be fine.

Unless they've changed something this is wrong. I know of several people who joined the navy in placed like the Phillipines without ever being a citizen or resident of the US. In San Diego much of the foreign born population came to America through the navy.

As far as I know you just have to be 18 years of age, pass the ASVAB, and to be able to crawl into a recruiter's office.
