The biggest threats to the US are internal. Gentrification, budget crisis, and either an unjust or overwhelmed justice system in most areas. And neo-cons.

The biggest external threat would be Arab resent of us, followed by the Chinese.

Oh wow..the Chinese are trying to figure out how to undermine the US in space! How utterly..logical.

Yes, since the US is so good, we can print pieces openly stating we can not let any other state come close to challenging us militarilly,, but woe to any country that may try! I mean, just look anbd the freindliness and good will many posters here show..why would the Chinese ever get the idea that the US might not be the best friend ever???

The Chinese plan to be a significant military power. To do so, one must be prepared. That applies to the US as well.

**shrug** China isn't stupid, and neither is the United States. The two are going to have to get along with each other or the planet's gonna end up with two gaping craters where great nations once were.

Nah! Our biggest threat is still the Russkies. After all, they are still the only country who can destroy us. Who knows what comes after Putin?

Russians make good music and demos, like the winning 64kb intro presented last weekend at assembly03.

About the topic, It seems a little childish how US responds. Like the spoiled brat in the playground with the coolest toy car to the other child who is just about to buy almost as cool little car as the brat has. "I'm not playing with you anymore".

I mean cant' you have equal friends? Do you always have to be the biggest, strongest, bulliest? I seems you can't be friends with anyone who doesn't lick your ass, or agree with you all the time.

china is anything but harmless, especially to its own people

and elijah, i do find it amusing that you like china, when it has one of (if not the) worst human rights records on the planet.

Look you liberal nut cases, FOX is as legitmate, or more so, than Clinton News Network, USA(clone of CNN). Is that the only way you liberals can win is by trying to ban a conservative news network, man you have become disgusting.
What I am trying to get across in, "China is not our Friend", that when we go to war or trying to solve the NK crisis, why do we even try to work with them, their vote to us will always be NO, another reason why the UN will never work.

It's quite simple, really, and it's something that many Euros fall into:

Anyone who can piss off Americans that much without putting them in any danger has to be good!!!
The bolded part is all that really matters. The rest (without putting us in danger, the human rights stuff, the support for NK, blah, blah, blah) is pretty much irrelevent, because the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

This is how soft-hearted liberal types end up apologizing for nasty authoritarian regimes. Sometimes those regimes are in opposition to the REAL enemy - the big, bad, United States. Of course, when the US supports or merely fails to oppose such regimes, it's horrible. Damn imperialist bastards!
