MtG, I think you are underestimating Arnold's name recognition and inherent likeability. He will draw votes from across the political spectrum. The hard left may be the only people who will have a difficulty with Schwarzenegger.
I predict that Arny will get more than 50% of the vote in a very crowded ballot. Bustamonte may come in second, but I doubt he pulls more than 30%.

Facing a guy who has no obvious ties to special interests with the most politically connected guy in the state is going to hurt them big.With Bustamante, they get one of their own, with a lot of power and decent relations (as much as any ranking state Dem has) with the Republicans in the legislature, and they also get the chance for Bustamante to appoint his own replacement, so the boat doesn't get rocked at all.

I'd vote for Arnold
1. He has no political experience. With the way politics is today, thats a good thing.
2. He has no special interests, sure he might propse a bush-esque tax cut, but besides that I think he genuinely wants whats best for California.
