  • The Western Whitehouse???!!!

I just watched a press conference with Scott McLellan, the new press secretary. He was in Crawford Texas in front of a large sign that said, "The Western Whitehouse". I'm sorry if this seems petty, but I thought the capitol was in Washington DC. Before 9-11, Bush was criticized heavily for spending too much time at his ranch. This issue has quited down, but I feel it deserves attention. What the hell is Bush doing in Texas. Your job is in DC, not Texas.

I heard a rumor that with these new "threats" to airlines, the terror threat level is not being raised because Bush doesn't want to interrupt his planned month-long 'vacation' in Crawford, Texas. Next month, the president plans on staying in Crawford before going around to fundraise some more.

Do your ****ing job, stay in ****ing DC.
To us, it is the BEAST.

it seems like every time I turn on the news he's taking another 'month off'.

So...when is he actually 'on' the job?

what difference does it make? they got phones, fax machines, internet, etc. he can effectively govern from anywhere and can get right back to DC on a few hours notice.

It's about responsibility. The presidency isn't a "work from home" job.

I thought you were referring to Nixon's old place in San Clemente.

How is this any different from the numerous vacations Clinton took?

Presidents take a lot of vacations... it's just how it is done.

I know that FDR's vacation home in Warm Springs, Georgia was referred to as the "Little White House," as was Truman's vacation home in Key West. Does anyone know if the tradition extends back farther than that?

You leftists are really pathetic. So now Bush is bad president cause he won't stay in a stuffy office 10hr/day, every day? You'll have to do better than that.

The truth is that the President is never trully on vacation. No matter where he is, he is always connected with his staff, getting briefed on crisises and making important presidential decisions.

No, because he does not have a home. His job goes everywhere he goes.

Yet another Bush-Bash thread, don't you ever get tired of that?

No don't answer, we already know.

Hey, I heard he refused to invite Al-Chirac to Crawford. Let's bash him for that....
Or maybe we could bash him for not having a cat...
Or maybe for not spending half his time at Camp David looking at porn...

if anything, it's better he's at a comfortable place that he loves to be at like his ranch... don't we all work better at places we like to be at?

Heck, if Sava were pres. it wouldn't matter where he was at, since he'd be postin on 'poly anyway, and never get anything done

All presidents have spent too much time on 'vacation'... 1 month!!! Heck, most of us AMERICANs only get 2 weeks a year... Granted Bush still has to "work" some of the time, but give me a break, give him 10 days a year that he has to acrew... and maybe 1 or 2 personal days...
                          Monkey!!!

I think we have our new "Fez"... this thread has been DIPLOMATTED!

I'm aware of past presidents and their vacations, but Bush seems to be taking more time off than Clinton or Bush I.

And I'd be *****ing about this even if it were Howard Dean taking sabbaticals in Vermont.
