Are you sure the present tense is appropriate for this sentence, the past seems so much more accurate.

i still have faith in an america that can fix itself and return to its former glory and ideals.

however, i can't see anything short of a peaceful and truly democratic revolution fixing this problem.

I think you are being too idealistic. This country is largely beyond repair.

I'm sure all it takes is one really good leader (and a cooperative Congress). Unfortunately, the system is so broken that it is impossible to get a good leader.

I was very much pro-Bush until this week. I too was turned off by his "responsibity" speech and also by his returning Cuban refugees to Cuba. He has shown us that he has no core honesty or core belief in liberty.

Clinton was a dishonest as they come. However, if you just followed what he did in foreign policy, he normally did the right thing. However, I strongly disagreed with his returning Elian Gonzales to Castro's regime.

it does take a really good leader.

unfortunately, the system is not so broken that such a leader can't come to power. it is broken enough, however, that it tends to gravitate towards the basest candidates and leaders who do the exact worst for the country.

I am kinda curious about Saddam being called rightwing. i always was under the impression that the Baathist government was nationalist but inspired by Stalinism.
