Republicans in Texas... I think were missing a check or a balance some where
Well, gosh Mitchell. What am I supposed to do ?
I like Texas. Should I act like I don't ?
And I was complimenting Petit Jean area, just earlier today.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
"Loyalty to country always, loyalty to government when it deserves it." You don't have to be a damned hated Yankee just because you think Texas government could use some checks and balances.
Oh just forget it Mitchell. You poop.
I got plenty of people I can argue with already.

No Republican has yet to answer the initial question of Texas being corrupt.
Yep, that it is. Over a century of Democratic rule will do that to you though . Especially when those Democrats create the most gerrymandered state in the country.

Why, because the checks and balances it needs is that the border police should use force to make the Democrats take their seats in the legislatiure and not turn tail and run?

Meh. I don't know about most of Texas's Democratic past, for one thing. For another thing, Democrats today were not Democrats 100 years ago. Thirdly, the discussion was sparked by gerrymandering which as you brought up I will attempt to counter, that, in a cheap phrase, two wrongs don't make a right. More complicatedly, Ramo says that the gerrymandering would be illegal anyways due to it's not the right year, and DeLay tried to sic the DHS on the Democrats, and the gerrymandering is far worse than anything Democrats have ever done. I don't live in Texas, and Ramo was the only Texan in that thread that did not support a blatant violation of the law, so I'll have to use his word for right now...perhaps a source with the pre- and post-gerrymandering maps would be in order.

The remark was directed toward Sloww. Anyways, skipping session is a very legal tactic and I'm sure Republicans have done it many a time themselves. Legislatures are full of babies on both sides. Get over it.
(And if you're nervous enough to have border police on the Texas-Oklahoma border, you've got bigger problems than redistricting don't you? )

He's not right, but then again relying on the media will make you miss a lot of info .
The 2000 census redistricting PARTIALLY was voted on in 2001. The rest of it was sent up to the courts. The courts decided it, but said it was up to the legislature to decide redistricting. The legislature is trying to redistrict after the court's decision on the districts.
This is not illegal. In 1984, California did re-redistricting and that wasn't in a census year.
Ramo was the only Texan in that thread that did not support a blatant violation of the law
Seeing that it isn't a blatant violation of the law... maybe you should rephrase .
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Think more South... WAAAY more South... and think also that you can always move police .

Then how did you get your information? Are you a senator in the Texas Legislature? Do you work for them or something? At the least, don't use the same old cheap "I'm a conservative but the media is liberal" troll. It won't work.
Well, could you provide us a pre- and post- gerrymandering map? I'd like to see what the goons were up to perosnally--you must know where one is, after all, you work for the Texas legislature.
Oh, and by the way, I'd like to rephrase to "I am unamerican and my evil liberal overlords told me to hate the true moral values of DeLay and company." Will that work?
I tend to read more than CNN.com . As far as the law is concerned there is nothing illegal as to what the Republicans are doing. They are simply reviewing and changing the court's recommendations for redistricting (which the court said was a legislative function... therefore their redistricting plan is simply a recommendation and not a judicial order). Until a new case says that's wrong, there isn't anything illegal about this at all.

I'm shocked and appalled that you think I use CNN as my major news source. Everyone knows CNN is for idiots, I use this neat thing called Apolyton Off-Topic. Collects 'em all nice and neat for me.
(When I do actually want to find news instead of it finding me, I turn to CNBC Tv)
