And what is the European identity? French boasting how civilized they are, Germans boasting about their industrial advancements and what not, Italians boasting with their food, Spanish with their hot tempered love.. then what? And you all tell us, that we're not real Europeans even. So.. why should I feel European, because we have absolutely nothing in common?
Borders alone don't make my identity go creating anything new to me.

      You can have your Europe
      In da butt.

I did see celebrations for the ESA trip to Mars thing being launched on the news not too long ago.

I am European first, second and third. I do support the Netherlands in sport, but if say texas or new york put out teams for the FIFA World Cup or the Olympics, Texans and New Yorkers would support them as well.

But I am one of the new breed of Europeans, the 2nd (3rd?) generation, descendant of European public servants. Grew up in 3 countries, speak 6 languages, understand another 3.

Secret launching platforms under the UK Houses of Parliament, the Arc de Triomphe and the Tower or Pisa. Just to waste further billions desecrating famous landmarks for no reason.

Well, they are taking aim at a non-existant US space monopoly, after all.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

If you damn Europeans just spoke English like normal people maybe we'd get along better.

It's kind of like the missile gap that people kept talking about during the cold war. Just something to get people all patrotic about Europe. Ooops I'm sorry. We all know Europeans are above all that patriotism stuff.
