I am pretty sure mainstream Hinduism doesn't actively seek converts either.

Interestingly enough, there is quite a bit of conversion in the American South, where entire evangalist congregations have been known to up and convert.
theres a law that says youre supposed to turn away a would be convert 3 times, and then only if he/she persists do you pursue it. The movements differ in how literally they take this, iiuc - reform, and conservative will certainly accept sincere spiritual searching as a motivation, though they are not running around trying to "save souls". You are expected to learn a good bit, but i certainly now quite a number who have managed the process.

I havent heard about entire southern congregations who have CONVERTED - i have heard of one that became a "noachide" congregation - they follow the "laws of the sons of Noah" that Judaism prescribes for gentiles. Havent heard that they want to make aliyah, so you dont have THAT to worry about, Azazel.

i think the problem there is more the reaction from the family.

Does nobody here watch "Sex and the City"?

This was a major plot point this season.

Honestly, though, I ", have no problem with people joining "Judaism", and joining our glorious nation, as long they don't believe in god.

Not much luck there, Az, heck even the Reform converts i meet are spiritually intense, and the conservative ones are often completely observant. Nah, you want more secular Jews, you're gonna have to attract more of us jews by birth.

              esp. with arabs.

Trying to date an arab girl is like somewhere between holding a KKK march in Harlem, and playing Russian roulette with 5 bullets in.

makes sense, since both are "national" religions.

I'll restrain from silly jokes as long as at least some people actually want to continue this on a highbrow level

I know. Alcohol can change that state of body quickly though. So watch out. It's less than 2 weeks.
