I'd like to see us move more and more towards treating animals humanley. I mean, they live thier entire lives just so we can eat them, we should honor their sacrifice and treat them as well as possible.

Plus when they are being butchered, I don't think they should have to go through the trauma of watching the 10 guys in front of them getting their heads chopped off.

Now, wouldn't the food taste better anyway if it's raised in more humane conditions?

not only taste better but I am sure we who eat it would get less sick...

pre mass production of meat, the animals used to "live" before being eaten, this is not really the case today...

And you woudln't get all those wonderful things like mad cow or salmonella.

By the way... I forgot to add that the dairy I do eat is mostly organic and free range. Which is a recent change, actually, since I just discovered a organic food co-operative out in the boondocks of sudbury. (which is very much a meat, meat, meat, and potatoes kind of place)

In vitro meat - the food of the future

One researcher recalls a student, a vegan, who asked if she could just biopsy herself, grow up a steak and eat it. If you want to eat truly victimless meat, perhaps it is time to put yourself on the menu.

do animals show fear before they are about to be slaughtered?

I think most animals are too stupid to realize what's about to happen.

They only recognize fear in the form of predators.

                  Go meat!

I don't hate vegans. I just think they're demented, crazy, and just plain WRONG. Don't eat meat? fine, Want me not to eat meat? **** you.

I am a specieist, or whatever they call it. I don't give a flying **** about other species, esp. those that aren't friends of people. dogs and cats can be loved and respected, because of personal bonds that the people have, but that doesn't mean that the life of a dog or a cat equals the life of a human. Torturing animals is wrong, but that's because of the human cruelty, not the suffering of the animal. Protecting the enviroment? very important. Why? because WE have to live here, not the duck-billed platypuss or whatever.

Get a clue Vesayen. All Levis are made in the USA and comply with all American labor laws. I can agree with you about not wanting to us slave labor but I imagine we both have drastically different definitions of what constitutes slave labor. In fact slave labor almost doesn't exist in the world today.

You're right about the whiny veggies though.

This is why I think people who want to reduce factory farming should encourage hunting.

You should have made this a multiple selection poll -- what about those who agree with you, but still think you're a moron?

I don't see how that would matter.

                            Matters loads.

Ever eaten free range well fed chicken compared to battery? Tastes much nicer, as do their eggs.

It's probably just a self-fulfilling delusion - you think it will taste better so it does.
