Your problem is that you don't want to share a workplace with an ex.

Are you in some form of indentured slavery? If it's that much of a worry you, or her, can always change jobs- most people don't work more than a few years with one employer after all.

Anyway- she might not fancy you. You won't know until you ask her.

Sort of. It's more like I don't want to share a workplace with my ex and all the other people at work who are in the same in-group as her, a group I can never be a part of due to my ethnicity. I can deal with the akwardness around an ex, but not with everyone I work with.

I'm teaching English on a certain government program, so I can't really transfer. I'll be heading back to America in two or maybe three years, which is part of the reason that any relationship is bound to end eventually.

She can't really transfer, either, as she is told where to work by the prefectural government. And people do work for one employer for many years here.

Anyway- she might not fancy you.

It would actually be better for me if she didn't, but I'm almost certain she does. I don't want to ask her flat out, however, as that would give it away to the whole office that I like her.

Also, since I'm still nominally commited to a "don't **** where you eat" policy, it would be rather silly to ask her if she fancies me. If she says "yes", it would be rather dumb to reply with "Alright, I was just checking. See you tomorrow!"

No. You can't be a part of them due to you being an arsehole and a bit of a sissy.

1 - We're co-workers. We we work in the same cube farm, but we don't really have to interact as far as the work is concerned.
2 - I'm already looking for work somewhere else (i'm at a dead end there professionaly) and i've started to get offers but... i'd have to move to Montreal.

We've been sending each other signals and we both know what's going on. It's even to the point where i know she's starting to wonder if i'm not just playing her since she's being so open about it. So i have to decide pretty soon whether i make my move or not.
Either i go for it or i tell her that i don't think i'm at the right place in my life for this.

                Whaddayathink?
So... you might have to move away and you'd never see her again?

That may well be a perfectly good reason to date her. Have a short, fun relationship and to hell with the consequences when (if) you move away.

If you wanna be a sappy b*st*rd you could 'confess' that you're gonna move away. You seem like the sort to do this, I know this because you opened up this thread.

So, just have fun. Date the broad and don't take the relationship seriously. When I advise you not to take it seriously I'm not saying that you should abuse her (emotionally) or anything, just saying that you should have fun rather than obsessing over strange notions like 'commitment'.

But in the end it's up to you.

but who gives a f***, you're going to Canada.

Another thing, be yourself. For once truely be yourself. Never compromise who you are, because you're moving to Canada. She'll either love you for it or..... what the hell, you're moving to canada.

Alright, our little bashful want to be office romancer posted this thread nearly two months ago. I want an update. Did he ask her out or did he go hide in a cubical?
