  • Damn taxes...

I got my first paycheck from mcdonald's today. i got hired on the last day of a pay period so I only got a single day's pay which was good for me to get things in perspective (8 hours rather than getting lost in a mess of 40+ hours)... also, all my previous jobs were under the table so i never had to deal with taxes before...

and damn... my raw pay is 47.15 but after 7.03 in taxes, i'm down to 40.12...

thank you, democrats for taking my 7 dollars away (an hour and a half of work! all useless!)... 15% of the check right there...

I get dinged about $250 every 2 weeks now. But I get it all back in March 2004 in a refund, even though I need it now and not then.

Heck Albert, you're going to get 90%+ of your taxes back at the end of the year. If you're able to fanagle a few deductions then you might even make money off of the tax man but people like me get hosed. I don't make enough to where the tax bite doesn't matter but just enough so that the tax man can take it away.

i'm just saying... think about it... of 8 hours of working, a full hour and a half is gone in taxes... don't that sound like quite a bit much? 1.5 out of 8 hours?

1.5/8 isn't so bad especially since you're going to get most of it back at the end of the year when you file.

you know I was watching meet the press again last night, and republicans went on again how the poor don't pay taxes.

How can they not pay taxes, but I do? My yearly wages are low- and would be considered poor- why am I paying taxes, when supposedly other people are not?

I want to find out how to get out of paying taxes dammit! Taxes are for the rich

I actually agree with you Alb, an hour of pay can be a huge thing when you are struggling to make ends meet. That's why I support either a more progressive tax model, or, ideally, libertarian-based communism.

Here's a cheat code for you, when you are filling out those tax forms, always claim head of household for an additional tax bonus.

what republicans are saying the poor don't pay taxes? i dont see how anyone could say this nor what the political point would be to say this... aint it better for the anti-tax republicans to say that they are going to take off the burden of taxes for the poor?

although poor might mean unemployed and welfare mothers and what not... anyone with a job i consider lower middle class.

you can't legally claim head of household can you?

Well, I always claim it, if nothing else, as a metaphorical, symbolic household head.

I'm not actually sure of all the legal technicalities of it all, but I am living with the fiance, so maybe I actually could anyway. And if you are head of your own household, well, that is good enough for me.
