  • Pretty decent picking so far...but I'm surprised to see some of these QB's going so early, as well as some aging RB's and a tight end who, though glorious in the past, wasn't all that much to write home about...
I guess most people here haven't heard of the VBD?

    • VBD? I haven't heard of it, but I've only picked 2 RBs so far .

      • Value Based Drafting...basically, getting the best player at any given position relative to the players available and factoring in scoring potential for that position and all positions overall.

          • It's a pretty good theory anyhow...but as we all know (Kurt Warner was my #1 pick last year) theory means very little when the fickle hand of fate is involved.

            • Ah, I usually do a positional strategy. Draft players from certain positions, at least in the beginning.

You'll note that last year and this I took 2 RBs in the beginning of the draft.

              • Yea, I intended to take two HBs in the first two rounds as well, but I couldn't resist picking Michael Vick in R2 when he was still available.

I'm just taking the players I happen to like. That stuff sounds way too cerebral.

                  • We each pick differently.

I have an idea of who I want, and see if the other teams ahead of me might be looking for that position, and gauge my chances. I'm happy to have two good RBs and a strong QB right off the bat, plenty of the other positions out there.

                    • I'm happy as well to have 1 good QB and 2 pretty good running backs. Aside from the top 3 or 4 wide recievers, there isn't a whole lot of difference in the numbers between numbers 5 through 15.

But I get tired of lacking good running backs. Problems I've had the past few years. Because after you get past 15 or so running backs, the quality jumps downward quickly- esp. teams that use 2 running backs or more such as Oakland (though Garner is a very good pick because he catches a lot of passes).

I should have drafted a running back in round 1. They went too quickly.

                      • They always go fast Diss, because you need two of them at least in Fantasy football.

I would not have bothered with Smith, but we will see how it goes.
