                    Why would Britain need to project power? Again, there is no remaining conventional military threat to a nation such as Great Britain.

                              yes well we've been pouring ever more money into the NHS (aka bottomless pit) for years, with a negligable effect, except of course on the tax burden...but that's another thread.

                              bae has a long history of going overbudget on projects, but in this instance the government is largely to blame for forcing them to build the carriers to thales' specs. i actually hope the government do stump up the money for this because it will ensure that britain's navy continues to be world class.
