    Ummmm... I miss Germany?

And Stefan - Talk to the girl. If she's moving away, what have you got to lose? Better to know than to think about possibilities for the next six months. Take it from someone who knows.

it's chemical, so far as i can tell. it's a relapse too, only the one before didn't wreak as much havoc.

        1. Between car, college, and credit card money, I've no hope of seeing any sort of money stay in my hands for more than a month for some years now. It is far more likely that I will go bankrupt than manage to tread water, much less make progress.

Stop buying as much with your credit card?

        2. I have a wonderful fiancee, who has been my fiancee for a year and a half now but cannot marry me due to 1. Neither of us is a patient person.

Well, I guess the two of you have to decide which is more important to you; a big wedding or being impatient.

        3. I have 3 jobs that keep my busy 50 to 60 hours a week...all of which are student-level jobs, and thus low-paying and with no benefits. (Fiancee has 2 for 40 hrs/wk with the same problems.)

I suppose you could always see about getting other jobs but I'd suggest you wait until you finish college. Seeing as they have no benefits I'm assuming that you don't have to give notice very long before quitting so if t really bothers you then you could always try and look for other work.

        4. I just had a project accepted to the world's premier new media festival, which is rapidly approaching, except that the project I submitted was designed to self-destruct under certain conditions...and it did. So I have nothing to show unless I can rebuild it in a month and a half, while working 50-60hrs/wk. And I have no money to get to Austria in any case.

Have you told your contact at the Media Festival? From the sounds of it there really is no way out of it ( if you can afford to go, you can't afford to go ) and you really aught to tell the people organising it that you won't be able to make it if you haven't already.

        5. The aforementioned lack of benefits is particularly bad for me, as I have a long history of heart and post-concussive problems which are apparently acting up again lately. Cluster migraines are fun. :/ So are prescription prices. :/

Don't colleges offer some kind of health cover? I really don't know enough about the American health care service... it's all a bit too bonkers for me.

        6. My fiancee also may not graduate from college because her parents cut her off financially with 12 credits left until graduation, refuse to sign a FAFSA, and also refuse to co-sign a loan. I'm starting to think that the only way for her to finish is for me to drop out and pay for her...which, obviously, I don't want to do, but I would if it was the only way.

It sounds like your fiancee has some issues she needs to work out with her parents. Why did they cancel the financial support? Has she tried to reason with them?

        7. My computer is old, at least for what I need it for. And the machines that were promised to me so I could build a Beowulf cluster have apparently now been promised to somebody else, so I can't relieve the strain on my machine (or any of the other old machines in the department.) And the department is also requiring that all students have Powerbooks next semester...which are expensive.

The department demands you have something which you are forced to foot the bill for? Sounds like a **** system to me.

        8. I have odd, unexplained red spots all over my legs, which a doctor looked at two years ago (when I had insurance) and said 'don't worry about it, I don't know what it is, but it's nothing major'. And they're growing. It's entirely possible that something is eating me.

Spots ( is it spots or blotches? ) don't tend to mean something is eating you. Its almost certainly some kind of rash. If it was short term chances are it would be an allergic reaction ( which may have been what your Doctor assumed ) but if its persisted you might want to get it looked at ( have any friends doing pre-med? ) Try to find out if you're scratching it - you might be doing it without noticing. If you ARE then you might want to try out E45 which works with most skin irritations.

        9. [insert litany of long-term health problems] But I don't worry about them much, as there's nothing I can do but die someday, so I don't really know if this should be on the list or not.

Eat more fresh fruit. Drink plenty of fluids. Get more exercise. Cannae hurt, can it?

        10. I've become one of the things I despised most: A designer who doesn't write much code. But I make one hell of a flow chart.

Yeah but you knew that was going to be what the course would involve when you got into doing computer science ( or whatever it is they're calling it where you are ). It's all pseudocode and flow charts and performance criteria with very little actual coding. I'm sure it'll get better once you actually graduate and start applying what you've been learning in the real world.

        11. My car needs an oil change.

Can't you just... change the oil then?

I have something like that too, get depressed easily by silly stuff and all that ...welll, sometimes isnt silly at all, I have considered suicide many times, especially when I failed to pass to 2° year at Uni I also realized that there are certain conditions that trigger that effect on me, now I have more control over it, I´m better
I hope you will be too .

there are no trigger conditions i'm aware of.
between the onset of the relapse and the catastrophe two weeks before i left, i refused to talk to anybody--friends, family, teachers, advisors, rh/ras, and shrinks alike about the issue, preferring instead to act as if i was fine.
i am now on something, which, should i od on it, would cause seizures and possibly death. it's also used to treat nicotine addiction, albeit under a different brand name and dosage.

What has he got to lose? The illusion! The question that should be bein asked is what has he got to gain? Is a 'long term relationship' really what he wants?

                Bottom line:

If he does nothing, nothing happens. He can concentrate on other things, she can go off to the Baltic and life can move on.

If he does tell her how he feels two things could happen:

One, she could not reciprocate. He's slightly dejected on account of being rejected and it just becomes another thing to get to him at a time when he's obviously pretty stressed as it is.

Two, she could reciptrocate. Great stuff! If you think there's a good chance of this then sure, go for it. A short relationship can still be a damn good relationship but generally speaking so-called 'long term relationships' are doomed to failure so don't hold any expectations for anything to continue for very long after she leaves.

As it is you can keep the illusion and depending on how you feel about yourself you can either tell yourself she would have reciptrocated or that she wouldn't have. Most people would do the latter but then again most people seem to hate themselves.

If you honestly think she will reciprocate then sure, go for it. But if you think it's only so-and-so or worse, unlikely then don't waste too much time when you've obviously got a lot of other things on your plate you could be worrying about.

Your on something which could cause seizures? I'm no pharmacologist but shouldn't they be looking at the other end of the scale?

You're obviously being pretty honest with yourself about it. Just try to hang in there and for god's sake don't take too much of that stuff whatever it is.

yes. however, the other major type of ad usually results in lower libido and has been alleged in the past to cause anti-social and pathological behavior in its recipients.

i wasn't too keen on taking them in the first place. unlike claritin, which also affects body chemistry, this stuff is designed to fvck with your brain. so naturally, i did quite a bit of research and then struggled mightily the first day i tried to take it.

i recall waking up at seven, seeing the bottle, and then arguing with my gf over the phone as to whether i should take it or not.

yeah, i'm exercising too. i'm on the path to recovery, but there are good days and bad days. in one way, it's like an abusive relationship. it just won't go away, you need help kicking it out, and it beats the crap out of you on bad days while you feel ok or even good on the good days.
in another way, i feel like a fvcking stock market.
